Hello! Or should I say bonjour!
I have just returned from Val Thorens in the French Alps, home from my first skiing holiday!
It was amazing – I’m hooked. I’ve got the bug, and anyone who has been skiing will know exactly what I mean when I say that. This is a massively picture heavy post, so sit back, press play on the video below (song of the holiday!) and enjoy whilst I show you around Val Thorens…
View from the window of the plane. We flew Ryanair (sigh, but it was cheap) from Stansted to Grenoble.
We then hired a car and set off for the Alps!
Posing on the mountain, in all my get up. I managed to borrow quite a lot of gear for skiing but my jacket and salopettes from Mountain Warehouse – everything was on sale, it was great for a bargain!
On the magic carpet of dreams
Snow selfie, naturally. Buff from Buff
Me and Don, beginners extraordinaire!
View from the apartment’s balcony. We stayed at Les Balcons de Val Thorens
Lunching on the mountain – not a bad way to spend a Monday morning
Bar 360 for some après-ski
On the way back from Bar 360 – the simply stunning view of Val Thorens at sunset.
I think* this bar was called Panda… We drank and danced a lot. It was brilliant!
Nicola’s birthday dinner! We ate so much fondue, it was incredible – simply delicious!
Snow cafe! Europop heaven. And Uptown Funk craziness.
Things of beauty in Malaysia!
More fondue on the last night for Sarah’s birthday. The best food of the holiday!
Beautiful, beautiful Val Thorens, I wish I was still there. It was the most amazing and fun holiday filled with delicious food, absinthe-face (hoo ha ha), Michel, 3,2,1,Cup, Cards Against Humanity, Rum Punch Pong, snow, my stupid cough, all the wine and beer, birthdays, snow chains, and the most wonderful group of people I could have asked for.
Roll on skiing 2016!
