Review | Soap & Glory Glow All Out

Hurrah! My favourite brand in Boots is making make up and I’ve finally got round to purchasing some! Up til now, I’d only really tried the Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss, you know, that lip gloss that plumps your lips up and you feel like Leslie ‘Trout Pout’ Ash. Absolutely horrible stuff! I really hated it when I tried it! So I’ve steered clear of the lip products, although for future reference, I’ve only really heard rave reviews about the Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Sticks (mainly courtesy of Fleur De Force!). Anywho, I went for the one of the pressed powders, namely Glow All Out, the luminizing radiance powder in the range.

IMG_0822222So let’s get to it, is this beautiful powder any good? Well, yes. It is. It’s excellent in fact!

The colour of the powder is a gorgeous pink with the slightest hint of peach. Its not too pale either which means it blends well into the skin rather than overtly standing out. With that, the powder isn’t the most pigmented product ever – but I think this is a blessing in disguise. When lightly swept over the cheeks it give a gorgeous, almost candlelit effect which I think looks stunning.

A highlighter this is not; there is no shimmer or sparkle in this product, it just has a delicate sheen which when applied gives a very elegant finish. I would compare Glow All Out more to Dandelion by Benefit rather than a highlighter. Whereas Dandelion leans on the side of blush, Glow All Out leans more to illuminating the face and is a slightly brighter powder.

At £11 this is definitely not cheap, especially for the high street but the quality is there and I would say, well worth the money. Considering Dandelion is £23.50 and the quality of the two is very similar, Glow All Out is an absolute bargain! Plus there are often offers in Boots, 3 for 2 especially, which brings the price down a touch.

Overall, this is a truly lovely product which lifts the face, brightens you make up and leaves a beautiful, healthy glow on the skin. I love it!

Benefit Brow Bar

Let’s talk eyebrows!

Confession time. I have never, ever plucked or waxed my eyebrows. Ever. I’m 24. A little weird you might think for someone who is very interested in make up, beauty and all that jazz.

The reason for this is simple: I have very fair eyebrows. I have white, blonde, translucent eyebrows and I always have. They shine beautifully in the sunshine and glow white when the rest of me is burnt. They are very difficult to see – On at least two occasions I have been asked if I have shaved my eyebrows off – yes they are that fair! And as they are so fair, it seemed stupid, irrelevant and pointless to put myself through pain for something that no-one would notice.

That was until a couple of months ago… Whilst they are still about 95% white a few of my eyebrows have started to colour themselves in a bit. They are trying to make a name for themselves on my face and are slowly but surely succeeding!

So, to avoid cocking up my eyebrow shape as I lost my eyebrow-plucking virginity I thought I’d better get a professional to shape my brows for the first time. And I chose the Benefit brow bar in Debenhams Oxford Street. The brow bar itself has just had a revamp – they’ve added waxing services and all manner of other treatments women are conned into thinking are necessary to function adequately in society.

My brow expert was called Monika and she was brilliant – so friendly and down to earth. She wasn’t intimidating or judgemental or any of the other traits associated with counter staff. But to the waxing! Monika used a silvery wax on my brows to shape them and then plucked out some pesky stray hairs. Whilst it was painful, it was no where near as painful as I’d expected. She then used a cooling cleanser to clear away any excess wax, covered up any redness with concealer and then filled my brows in with Benefit’s Brow-Zings. Overall it was a very nice experience – I learnt a lot about the shape of my brows (and what to do from now on) in a really friendly environment.

Once I’d had my brows done I had a nosey around the products and got my make up done by one of the other members of staff. Benefit counters are my favourite for their friendly, positive attitudes and their willingness to help. I would highly recommend their brow shaping service – ask for Monika!

Coral is my new favourite at the moment and here are some of my favourite coral products. I think coral suits me quite well as I am fair and have blue eyes – complimentary colours on the colour wheel right there! And the picture above is them all on my face.

Firstly, the eyes: I wear a nude eyeshadow base with a winged out black gel eyeliner (Maybelline) and mascara (Benefit Bad Gal Lash).

Then for my cheeks I’ve used Coral by Sleek. This is such a beautiful product, a gorgeous coral/brown colour which is warm and not muddy in tone. It is well pigmented but not so pigmented that it is a nightmare to work with!

For my lips I’ve used Revlon’s Juicy Papaya Lip Butter. The Revlon Lip Butters are my very favourite lip product at the minute – they are moisturising, full of colour and give a beautiful shine to the lips. I love them! I adore this coral colour and I also love the Raspberry Pie one which I wore in my Face of the Day post.

For the nails I tried the new Barry M Gelly Nail Polish in Papaya which is just brilliant! The formula is amazing, so thick and glossy, I think it looks like I’ve just had a gel manicure. Definitely worth a try.

So that’s a little run down of my favourite coral make up and how I like to wear it – I have no doubt I’ll be wearing this look throughout the Summer months!
